I'm the lifeboat lost at sea You're the lighthouse guiding me home All the stars have names All the colours are bleeding Too much time breeds confusion Too much space makes me feel empty Waves won't wait for me to decide They'll wash me away for my arrogant pride Inside it's cold enough to swallow the sun Outside it's strong enough to forgive what I've done All the stars have drowned When they fell into the ocean You say that God is the work of science fiction You say that God does not exist

Scarecrows 04:07
We get judged on what we do, not what we say We get judged on who we are, not who we're trying to be As I write, too many words try to get out all at once So I take my time to get this right, patient and concise Turn around, turn around And walk away from this town Settle down, settle down I've never seen you look so proud Turn around, turn around Just walk away from this crowd Settle down, settle down I've never seen you look so proud We are Jumping Jacks and Catherine Wheels We are scarecrows standing in the corn fields
3.
Batten down the hatches This is bound to get worse before it gets better Board up the doors and windows Against this howling wind I write on the walls to stop them from closing in This room is slowly shrinking And I'm thinking I've been inside too long We are ghosts hiding and surviving in the snow We melted when we felt heat We're shadows lying and colliding as we go We faded when the sun hid The camera never lies so take a picture of this scene And write a clever tag-line to feed your jealous appetite If black and whites are getting "likes" Then you can Instagram my life Because mine is colour-blind These words are infinite I tear down the walls to stop them from closing in This room is slowly shrinking And I'm thinking I've been inside too long

Pigeon-toed goodbyes as she starts to smile At the nervous way he always stands Crows feet round his eyes as his lip he bites And pulls his sleeves up over his hands With their bellies full of butterflies Brain-dead and tongue-tied at the perfect time With a thousand things he wants to say Sometimes words ruin silence So just shut your mouth and close your eyes And find a way to let her in To your belly full of butterflies Sending smoke signals is just writing letters in the sky So he knows that she'll see his last goodbye
5.
Holding out until your fingers go numb Spit it out, you're too old to suck your thumb The cat got your tongue and dragged it away Through the dirt and the mud with your good Christian name All the books that you read looked much better as trees If it turns you on Then speak to me in tongues Your words start a forest fire And I will fan the flames Ideas form like cigarette burns onto the page Atom bombs falling like heavy rain Chapter and verse, a crib and a hearse Circles and squares, high priests and Lord's prayers All of this that you read won't teach you a single thing It rains on the wicked and righteous as well It stains us the colours of heaven and hell
6.
All my friends are growing up and moving on Don't want to stay up drinking with me all night long We've got the rest of our lives to worry I guess I don't understand the hurry Get a full-time job because you think you should Get married because your parents thought you would Settle down and slowly fade to grey Don't let your best days slip away Another weeknight sitting in a London park Reading my favourite book until it gets too dark Watching the people come and go Inventing lives for them they'll never know Miss the last train home from Platform 10 Leave you another voicemail at 2am Lie in bed listening to Brand New Jesse Lacey's words make me think of you, "I'm not your lover, I'm not your friend" When I grow up

Echolalia 05:22
You cut your teeth and sharpen your claws on me You sleep in shadows and corners where I can't see Don't let the spark go out Don't let this house blow down What you want to know I can't tell you Where you want to go I can't take you there You hear these words and sing them back to me You keep repeating them like echoes will set you free Don't let your guard down now Don't spread your love round town
