lyrics

Holding out until your fingers go numb
Spit it out, you're too old to suck your thumb
The cat got your tongue and dragged it away
Through the dirt and the mud with your good Christian name
All the books that you read looked much better as trees

If it turns you on
Then speak to me in tongues
Your words start a forest fire
And I will fan the flames

Ideas form like cigarette burns onto the page
Atom bombs falling like heavy rain
Chapter and verse, a crib and a hearse
Circles and squares, high priests and Lord's prayers
All of this that you read won't teach you a single thing

It rains on the wicked and righteous as well
It stains us the colours of heaven and hell
